Theodore Robert Cowell popularly known as “Ted bundy” is a well known American serial killer whose story electrifies the soul of many. This read will give you an insight into the story of Mr. Bundy and will leave you in awe!

Bundy was born on November 24, 1946 in Burlington,Vermont, U.S. He had been accused of 30 plus homicides of young girls that took place over 7 states during the 1970’s time period. Several young girls from the university of Washington disappeared. Fear among the students grew within no time. The investigation culminated on July 14 after the abductions of two girls in broad day light in the east of Seattle. After several witness sightings and investigations, the police managed to crack few clues and get some leads.

Now they knew they were looking for an attractive ,well dressed and a charming young man named “ ted” who drove a bronze colored Volkswagen beetle. He could be “one of us” very easily. The cops had some suspects, finally.

In August 1974, Bundy was accepted into the University of Utah Law School and moved to Salt Lake City. Bundy continued his acts of merciless killings and brutal sexual assaults of several teen aged girls. In the afternoon of November 8 Bundy approached an 18 year old girl-Carol DaRonch claiming to be a police officer. He had told her that someone was attempting to break into her car and convinced her to accompany him. She somehow escaped after much of struggle and was the first one to do so.

On August 16, 1975, Bundy was arrested by Utah Highway Patrol officer Bob Hayward in Granger due to over speeding and was later released. The police could not arrest him for the homicide cases due to lack of evidence. After much effort and possible evidence gatherings, In February 1976, Bundy stood trial for the DaRonch kidnapping and was found to be guilty. He was sentenced to 15-years of imprisonment. After a series of escapes from the prisons( which includes him breaking through the ceiling into the apartment of the chief jailer!) he was finally arrested by the Pensacola police after struggling over the officer’s gun. Bundy’s words that time were “I wish you had killed me”. Bundy then stood for series of trials for the assaults and homicides and was found guilty. He was sentenced to death by electrocution. This was the first ever trial to be televised. During the penalty trial, the man asked Carole Ann Boone (she testified on behalf of Bundy) to marry him and she agreed.

In 1986 an execution date was scheduled which was later postponed. When all his appeals exhausted, Bundy had finally confessed to two journalists in death row prison and revealed several horrific and disturbing details about the incidents. He revealed that he revisited the bodies of the girls many times and tampered them(also performed sexual acts with the dead corpses). He also kept the heads of his victims. Bundy died in the Raiford electric chair at 7:16 a.m on January 24, 1989. His death indeed was a celebration to the huge crowd who were outside the prison and the rest of the world. People sang merrily, hugged, danced and set fireworks after hearing the news. Theodore Robert Bundy was somebody who made history but in a MISERABLE way.
